A YORK boat operator has come up with a stress free alternative for people travelling to Royal Ascot.
York Incoming has teamed up with Waterline Leisure to provide two Ascot Boats which will make trips back and forth along the mile stretch between Skeldergate and the Terry's factory.
Each boat holds about 100 people and will be leaving every 20 minutes from the Bonding Warehouse to a purpose-built landing at Terry's from 10.30am to 2pm and then again from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
Return tickets booked more than 24 hours in advance cost £9 or walk-on tickets cost £5 one way.
York Incoming managing director Dave Martin said: "This is for all those people who are sick of the traffic.
Meanwhile even the river banks are being spruced up in preparation for Royal Ascot with council workmen out with power washers removing unsightly green algae.
