2.30pm Coventry Stakes (Group 2) Six furlongs: First run in 1890, the opening race of the Royal Ascot at York meeting was named after the ninth Earl of Coventry. It is the first Group contest of the year for juveniles. Famous horses who have won this race include Persimmon (1895), Tudor Minstrel (1946) and Mill Reef (1970). Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien has won this race four times since 1997.

3.05pm King's Stand Stakes (Group 2) Five furlongs: A Stand Plate was first run on the round course at Ascot Racecourse in 1837 and it became the Royal Stand Plate in 1958. The race was re-named the Queen's Stand Plate in 1860, for two-year-olds, over the sprint distance of four furlongs, Finally, the race became the King's Stand Plate in 1901. It has been won by some of the greatest speed specialists of all time, including Diadem (1919 and 1920), Abernant (1949), Dayjur (1990) and Lochsong (1994).

3.45pm St James's Palace Stakes (Group 1) One mile:

Named after the Tudor Royal residence, this race features the best milers from the Classic generation, often attracting horses that have run in the English, French and Irish 2,000 Guineas, with a succession of famous winners from Brigadier Gerard to Rock of Gibraltar.

4.20pm Queen Anne Stakes (Group 1) One mile: Founded in 1840, the Queen Anne Stakes commemorates the monarch who established racing at Ascot in 1711. Run as the Trial Stakes until 1929, the Queen Anne Stakes was first awarded Group Three status in 1971, becoming Group Two in 1984 and Group One in 2003.

4.55pm Ascot Stakes (Handicap) Two-and-a-half miles: First run in 1839, the Ascot Stakes attracts horses that have run in the early season staying handicaps. The greatest horses to win this race were Brown Jack (1928) and Trelawny, who scored the Ascot Stakes and Queen Alexandra Stakes double in both 1962 and 1963.

5.30pm Chesham Stakes (Listed) Seven furlongs: Named after the third Baron Chesham, who was the last Master of the Buckhounds in 1900-01.
