I TAKE great exception as a 68-year-old lady cyclist, featured in the photograph accompanying the first entry in the Diary (June 13), to be referred to as a male.

It was also wrongly reported that I was in no mood to wait around for the Bilborough flyover to be officially opened when in fact the ceremony had been completed before my husband and I crossed the bridge.

Furthermore I asked permission before we proceeded to cross. Also, a group of 15 or so walkers had attended the opening ceremony and then crossed the bridge before us.

May I also point out that we cycle many thousands of miles each year in this country and overseas and never ride on the pavement unless it is legal to do so.

Hopefully Chris Titley will get the facts right in future before writing sarcastic articles.

I think an apology is due.
