Little York City Knights supporter Reece Turnbull came face to face with one of Britain's best-loved comedy characters when he travelled to the capital to watch the Knights take on London Skolars.

Before the match, award-winning comedians David Walliams and Matt Lucas filmed a sketch for their hit BBC television programme Little Britain, featuring hilarious duo Andy (Lucas), the wheelchair-fraudster, and his companion Lou (Walliams).

Andy's catchphrases, which have been sweeping the nation, include, "Yeah I know," and "I want that one".

In between takes, four-year-old Reece and 12-year-old friend Liam Cadd ran down to the front of the main stand to get a photo of Walliams.

"He's a bit young for Little Britain, but he knew David Walliams was a famous person," said Reece's mum, Jo, who lent Liam her camera-phone to take a snap.

"It was Liam's idea. He just said, 'let's take a picture,' and Reece went with him.

"I didn't think they (the Little Britain stars) would do it, but they were willing to sign autographs quickly, even though they had to get ready for filming. They were really friendly."

The sketch basically involved Andy scoring a try and celebrating with the fans.

Jo said: "I'm a fan of Little Britain. I think it's great. I'm probably more chuffed than Reece that he was pictured with "Lou". I got his autograph too."

Reece, of Rawcliffe Grange, York, has become a bit of a personality himself after his brave battle against a rare form of cancer was highlighted in the Evening Press last year. He faced a gruelling schedule of biopsies, surgery, chemotherapy and daily medication to fight off a tumour, known as rhabdomyosarcoma, which was found close to his bladder. His battle proved successful, although he still has to attend bi-monthly check-ups for 18 months to be given the final all-clear.

Meanwhile, his excellent day in London was rounded off by a win for the Knights, which kept them top of the league.

He will get another Knights treat when he will be mascot for the day at their game with Gateshead on July 24 - two days before his fifth birthday.
