RACEGOERS swapped the posh Yorkshire Enclosure for the Rails after being refused entry with their picnics.

William and Sandra Bladen travelled from the West Midlands to enjoy their £18-a-head Yorkshire Enclosure tickets.

But when they arrived, they were turned away with their picnic and sent towards the Rails.

Mrs Bladen said they had taken food to Ascot every year and never had a problem before.

"It didn't say anything about not being allowed food on the ticket, we are very disappointed."

Meanwhile, a group of family and friends from Walsall found themselves in the same predicament.

They had bought new dresses and hats to wear in the Yorkshire Enclosure.

Karen Walker, 44, said they had got "drenched" walking all the way over to the Rails.

"We didn't want to be in here, this is not what we paid for.

"You don't want to spend your spare money on food, you want to spend it on the horses.

"We're really disappointed. It has spoiled Ascot for us."
