HE'S known for being a small sportsman - but grumpy soccer star Michael Owen's temper proved even shorter at Ascot.

Asked for a few words for Evening Press readers he snapped: "I'm not doing anything."

He also dodged questions from other reporters as he made his way to a private box in a top hat and smart morning suit.

This was the Real Madrid striker's second day of racing at York.

And he got grumpy with a photographer snapping him.

WORLD Cup legend Geoff Hurst told the Evening Press he was gearing up for a great day at Royal Ascot.

The 1966 hat-trick hero was spotted as he tried to find his place at York Racecourse for Ladies Day.

The former West Ham United striker said: "I'm really looking forward to Ascot at York.

"I'm just hoping it doesn't rain and the weather picks up a bit."
