Stamford Bridge's overseas star Lorenzo Ingram is on the brink of becoming the first batsman in Hunters the estate agent York and District Senior League to score 1,000 runs by the halfway stage of the season.

Starting Saturday's division one game against Thirsk needing 98 to reach the target, Ingram blasted 81 not out.

He now has 983 runs, at an astonishing average of 140.43, and remains on course to easily beat the previous fastest thousand runs in a season.

His chances of achieving the milestone on Saturday were seriously hampered as Stamford Bridge's bowlers restricted Thirsk to a score of only 140-5.

Paul Aconley took 3-49 while Sean Holmes (34) and Des Wyrill (43) were Thirsk's two notable batsmen.

Imgram was well supported by Andy Milner (34). Teenager Neil Laidlaw led the Petty-less Thirsk attack with 4-21.

Having won the toss at Clifton Park, Pocklington took the unusual decision to bat first against York II.

That decision seemed to have been justified as they made 207-7, with Neil Jackson (45) and Mark Nesom (31) being the main batsmen as Alex Boyle took 4-55.

However, York's batsmen then proved to be more than capable as Jason English made 58 before Mike Mortimor (79no) and Andy Kay (26no) saw them to a five wicket victory.

Paul Brook hit his highest score for Rowntree, racing to an unbeaten 81 off just 41 deliveries in the division two draw with Bolton Percy.

Brook's barnstorming effort saw his side to 206-9. Bolton Percy's Phil Salter took 3-46 and Nick Lister 3-33. Salter followed with 32, but 5-45 by Dave Whittle aided by four catches by wicketkeeper Rich Borrows had Bolton Percy facing defeat. The last man came in with five overs remaining but Ali Rigby masterminded the rearguard action with an unbeaten 36 which saw Bolton Percy hang on for a draw at 157-9.
