York City Knights head coach Mick Cook will get a reminder of how things used to be when he takes the field in a charity veterans' match against the British Army tomorrow.
The 43-year-old will join Knights coaching consultant Daryl Powell and development officer Jason Ramshaw, who just scrapes into eligibility at 35 years old, and a team littered with coaches from the National Leagues to raise money for Cancer Research and other charities.
Yorkshire Select, with Cook at second row, Ramshaw at hooker and Powell at loose forward, also boast the prowess of Anthony Farrell, Oldham boss Gary Mercer and former Featherstone Rovers coach Gary Price.
Said Cook, "The last time we played was May last year so it's more than a year, but we will get through on adrenaline.
"It's raising money for Cancer Research and the Army Benevolent Fund so hopefully we will get a few there - the more the merrier!"
The match kicks off at 12.30pm tomorrow at Castleford's Jungle home on Wheldon Road.
