York-based travel counsellors Julie Durrans and Clare Stokoe were two of the first people in the UK to get a look inside the newest and largest cruise ship in the world, the Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas.

Clare and Julie were two of more than 330 travel counsellors from all over the country invited on board for the sneak preview pf the ship, which can hold 3,300 passengers, because their company is one of Royal Caribbean's biggest selling travel agencies in the UK. During their two-night stay over the May bank holiday weekend, Julie and Clare, of Travel Counsellors Plc, took the chance to try out what the ship has to offer, including the first-ever surfing simulator at sea!

The Freedom of the Seas, which cruises the Caribbean, also features an ice rink, rock climbing walls, two cantilevered whirlpools that extend 12 feet out from the sides of the ship and a pool deck that transforms into an open-air nightclub each night.

Julie said: "Freedom of the Seas is an absolutely fantastic ship and I feel very privileged to have been one of the first people to see it and try its facilities for myself. The whole weekend was wonderful."
