Politics and dance music are not the best of companions.
No one would doubt that Neil Tennant is an intelligent, witty and informed man.
However, Tennant would retain more credibility if he criticised Cherie Blair's curtains, rather than attacking Tony and George with I'm With Stupid.
That said, pop fans of a certain age will be thrilled that the West End Boys have teamed up with pioneering Eighties' electronic producer Trevor Horn.
Although they have collaborated in the past, Fundamental is their first complete album.
Sparkling tracks such as The Sodom & Gomorrah Show and Casanova In Hell make Fundamental the duo's most sophisticated album in 15 years, but it will probably appeal only to the converted. Youngsters just won't get it.
