A YORK college’s new £300,000 animal centre has been given a seal of approval.
Elizabeth Cooper, whose father Dave was deputy principal at Askham Bryan College until his untimely death in March 2008, unveiled the plaque at the centre at Prior Purglove, Guisborough, which is run in conjunction with its York counterpart.
It is home to more than 100 different animals across 25 species – from chinchillas to snakes and exotic cats. Mr Cooper became director of teaching and learning at the college in 2000, and deputy principal three years later. He played a pivotal role in developing animal management courses at York, which in turn inspired the new centre.
