A young woman found dead in Ryedale had taken danger drug mephedrone in the 48 hours leading up to her death, police have said.
Speaking at a press conference this morning, Detective Chief Inspector Nigel Costello said a full toxicology report would be carried out in the next two days, but said friends and family of the victim had said she had used the drug.
The woman was found dead at a friend's house in Norton yesterday morning.
DCI Costello also backed The Press's Menace of Mephedrone campaign, which aims to outlaw the drug.
He said: "I think The Press has done the right thing in making people aware of thise substance."
