Nestlé Rowntree RUFC crashed out of the North Yorkshire Trophy at the quarter-final stage after losing 53-7 at a powerful Richmondshire side.
’Trees put their bodies on the line to try to contain the home side’s forwards and were forced to replace four players through injury – including their entire front-row – during the course of the match.
The main damage came from Richmondshire’s speedy wingers, who scored five of their side’s seven tries.
Rowntree’s best attacking moments came from the strong running of centres Lee Underwood and Pete Lockitt and it was Underwood who charged over for their consolation try midway through the second half. Lockitt converted.
