ONE of the main routes between Selby and York has reopened following emergency work to repair a burst water main.
Cawood High Street was closed to traffic on Monday while a team of technicians carried out the repair – meaning motorists travelling to and from York had to make a lengthy diversion. The road reopened at 9.30am yesterday.
A spokesman for Yorkshire Water said: “We’d like to apologise to customers in Cawood for any disruption they may have faced as a result of a burst on a four-inch water pipe and thank them for their patience whilst this was being repaired.
“The decision was taken to close the road in the immediate vicinity of the burst site to ensure public safety and enable a team of our technicians to carry out the repair as quickly as possible.”
