DOZENS of pupils at a primary school in York will be off school for a second day today due to problems with the school heating.

Parents of children in Years 1 to 5 at Westfield School in Acomb are being asked to keep their children at home today while efforts continue to fix the problem.

The school will be open for children in the nursery and part of reception – Mrs Hamer and Mrs Wedeman’s classes – will also be open, but Miss Cartwright’s reception class will remain closed.

Year 6 children are asked to arrive at school as normal. They will be escorted by their teachers to York High School where Westfield staff will use that building to teach classes as normal. As the Westfield canteen is also affected, parents are asked to send their children in reception and nursery with a packed lunch.

Year 6 children are also being asked to bring a packed lunch, but if the Year 6 child is entitled to free school meals, a lunch will be provided from York High.
