BACK-TO-BACK wins moved Clifton clear at the top of the Spectacular Driveways John Smith’s Sunday Pool League.
The leaders beat Mitre ‘B’ 9-0 and closest rivals Dringhouses ‘A’ 6-3.
Steve Scott senior and Steve Scott junior both recorded double wins in the 9-0 triumph, as did Ian Baxter and Jonny Mitchell.
Dringhouses ‘A’ now trail by seven points with a game in hand against their ‘B’ team.
An 8-1 win against Castle Howard Ox ensured they kept up the pressure at the top, although they then lost 6-3 to Clifton. The one bright moment was a seven-ball win for Nigel Macdonald over Steve Scott senior.
Mitre ‘A’ remain in third place following a 6-3 win over Corner House and a 9-0 victory over bottom side Dick Turpin.
Doubles for Dave Catlow, Chris Leaf and Phil Bean saw off Dick Turpin.
Fourth and fifth are still well contested, with Crystal Palace ‘B’ vying with Dringhouses ‘B’.
Palace ‘B’ enjoyed a 7-2 victory over Dick Turpin, while Dringhouses were 5-4 winners against Fulford Arms and 6-3 victors over Corner House.
Mitre ‘B’ picked up their second victory of the campaign, beating Palace ‘B’ 5-4.
