I TEND to agree with Richard Smith’s letter on cycle lanes (Pavement perils, December 29). I actually wrote a joke chorus about it, in the old music hall style:
“Have you ever seen a cycle in a cycle lane,
Have you ever seen a cycle on the road?
My old aunty Mabel says they’re always on the path.
I just can’t see it really, but, you’ve got to ’ave a laugh!
Have you ever seen a cycle in a cycle lane,
’Cos the devils always cycle on the path.”
