Pocklington Men’s team endured mixed fortunes in their three quick-fire games in the York Badminton League.
They won 5-4 away at Selby/Drax ‘A’, then lost 7-2 at home to both St John and University Students ‘B’.
Against Selby/Drax, Martin Anderson and Kevin Chidlow saw Pocklington home with three great wins for a three-rubber total of 148-120.
Ben Farthing and Adam Harvey were the best St John pairing with a hard fought maximum for 164-13, while Alex Chu and Baillie Watterson took the York University campus honours with three gritty wins for a 149-122 return.
Knavesmire played host to Selby Jubilee in men’s three and were untroubled in scoring a 9-0 win.
Mike Lewis and Brian Bell were the pick of the Poppleton-based side with a return of 126-58 from straight wins.
York RI Monday/Wednesday ‘B’ made it three from three in men’s three with a 7-2 win at University Students ‘C’.
Sam Kee and Richard Morley were best for the Institute with the only match maximum.
That included a tough 16-21, 21-16, 21-19 success over Rory Muse and Ollie Metcalfe, who took both campus wins.
RI Tuesday/Thursday ‘C’ recovered from a defeat by RI Monday/Wednesday ‘B’ to inflict an 8-1 away win over league newcomers Copmanthorpe.
Steve Smith and Brian Morley were in great form for the visitors with three straight wins for 127-82.
Graham Butcher and Tony McGale picked up the home consolation with a 19 and 12 victory over Peter Filak and Dave Bainbridge.
