EMERGENCY service workers were today embarking on a 12-hour bowling challenge to raise funds for a York children’s charity.

Police officers and PCSOs based at Fulford Road police station, York paramedics and staff working in Accident & Emergency at York Hospital hope their efforts will boost the coffers of Snappy – a charity that provides weekend and holiday activities for children with learning difficulties.

The bowlers, who are taking part in the challenge on their day off, will take over three lanes at Tenpin in Clifton Moor. Members of the public are invited to guess the total score of all three lanes during the 12 hours. At £1 a guess, every penny will go straight to Snappy, and the person with the correct guess will win £50 vouchers for Asda and Dominos Pizza.

The challenge starts at noon and the last guess can be made at 5pm.

There will be collection boxes at Tenpin.
