HAVING had numerous carers over two years, I am troubled at this time of year when we discuss families.
People say to me: “Oh, the old people we visit with large families who never visit”, some adding “it makes me cry”.
I’m lucky, I have two sons who live a distance away and see me at least once a week.
What has happened in this country? Where is that old family closeness?
Is it only in Latin countries where each generation in a family support each other?
I see it myself with friends. I know only too well it happens, I see the hurt it causes.
May the spirit of what is called Christmas touch the heart of those who think only of themselves.
