FREE insulation is being offered for more homes in York.
It followed the success of a scheme launched earlier this year by City of York Council, the Energy Partnership and the Energy Savings Trust Advice Centre.
Throughout the summer, the council visited more than 1,350 homes in the Hull Road and Fishergate wards, and more than 240 referrals were received to install insulation in private homes.
The initiative covers installation of loft and cavity wall insulation and includes properties rented from a private landlord.
Ruth Abbott, housing standards and adaptations manager, at City of York Council, said: “This scheme was really well received by York residents during the summer months and we are hoping even more people take up this fantastic opportunity during the winter months.”
Eligible residents are being notified by a leaflet giving basic information about the scheme. To find out more, phone 0800 512012.
Coun Tracey Simpson-Laing, York Labour’s housing spokeswoman, said: “Insulation cannot only save money but also can help people with medical complications which can arise due to living in a cold or damp home.”
