University of York student David Attwood has been selected to play for the England Under-25s bowls team.

Attwood will compete in the British Isles Series in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, in January after coming through trials which involved 40 players.

Somerset-born Attwood, who is studying for a degree in archaeology at the University of York, plays for York Indoor Bowls Club and represents Yorkshire at U25s and senior level.

Despite only taking up the sport two-and-a-half years ago, Attwood is also the Yorkshire U25s pairs champion having won the title in tandem with Paul Humphries.
