Malton & Norton Golf Club had two teams tying for fourth place when the club hosted the fifth round of the East Riding Alliance competition in extremely wet conditions.
Fraser Kelly and Brian Jacques, together with club-mates Elliott Burdett and Lee Bellion, posted four-under-par rounds of 68 to move the club from 12th to third in the league on 677 points, behind leaders Hornsea (673) and second-placed Bridlington (676).
The winners at Malton & Norton were Ganstead Park GC’s R Short and J Page on 66.
A total of 18 teams competed in Fulford Golf Club’s annual mixed festive shotgun start tournament.
The winners with 86 points were John Hutt, Phil Robinson, Jenny Hawkins and Kath Stubbs, three points ahead of their nearest challengers.
Meanwhile, Yorkshire golfers can take aim at a new competition next season.
The Yorkshire Matchplay Cham-pionship is a knockout competition open to golfers who are a member of a club affiliated to the Yorkshire Union. Players have the option of entering either the individual tournament or pairs event.
