I AM very pleased that the St Nicholas Fayre was such a success, but for anyone living in Bishopthorpe it was a nightmare. The problem was the drivers of the coaches, who seemed to think that they could park anywhere they liked.
Of the re-routed coaches, only a small percentage parked on the Bustardthorpe site. The majority parked the full length of Knavesmire Road, effectively blocking half of it and making it extremely difficult for the service buses to get through. Some also parked up in Campleshon Road, again causing an obstruction.
I fully understand that St George’s Field was flooded, but if this happens in future could Knavesmire Road not be coned off on both sides to ensure proper access for York buses and residents, and there be some kind of monitoring of the situation?
