YORK schoolboys Under-12s stormed into the semi-finals of the cup with a 7-1 home victory over Warrington.

Warrington took the lead on six minutes, but the early setback was met with a fantastic response.

Striker Ben Hirst levelled four minutes later, driving into the area before finishing in the far corner.

Joey McCormick scored from the edge of the area to put York in front and Matty Parker scored a counter-attacking third, lobbing the ’keeper from 18 yards.

McCormick added the fourth before substitute Nick Kennedy scored with a superb header from close range.

Joe Wales then rode two challenges to find McCormick, who fed Hirst to score the goal of the game.

The rout was completed in the last minute when Matty Mulhearn unselfishly set up McCormick for his second hat-trick of the season as his side earned a tie against Derby in the last four.
