TRAIN passengers were yesterday being urged to join the search for Claudia Lawrence, as the missing chef’s father handed out leaflets at Leeds railway station.

Peter Lawrence, 63, also unveiled a giant, big-screen version of the “Where Are You?” poster which has been used to appeal for help to find his daughter for almost nine months.

Speaking in front of the 10ft high electronic image of his daughter, Mr Lawrence said his family was facing up to the “dreadful” prospect of Christmas without Claudia.

The solicitor said: “Of course, we’ve had Claudia for 35 years and she’s always been around for Christmas.

“Now, unless there’s a miracle, this year she won’t be. It’s going to be absolutely dreadful. I don’t like to think about it.

“Nobody is looking forward to Christmas in the family, but it’s something we’ve got to cope with and get through, and we will.”

Claudia, 35, was last seen on March 18 and police are treating her disappearance as suspected murder.

Mr Lawrence said he knew people were still contacting the police and said he hoped the new railway station big-screen campaign would convince people that even a small piece of apparently insignificant information could be crucial.

He said: “Hopefully, someone will decide they do have that one piece of information we need to find Claudia.”

The new campaign has been developed by Mr Lawrence in conjunction with Network Rail and Titan Outdoor, the screen operator.

Mr Lawrence said he hoped it will become a nationwide campaign across some of the major stations in the UK.
