A CITY centre road in York has been closed for emergency repairs on what is believed to be a collapsed sewer.
Yorkshire Water had apologised to customers for the disruption caused by the work in Walmgate, which is expected to go on until December 9.
A 20 metre section is closed to traffic on one lane between the traffic lights at Walmgate Bar and 149 Walmgate.
Dafydd Williams, capital communications manager at Yorkshire Water, said: "We would like to first of all apologise to customers for any inconvenience or disruption that this work may potentially cause and reassure them that we'll be working as quickly as possible to carry out these essential repairs."
Diversions are currently in place and Yorkshire Water said it has liaised with businesses in the excavation site to ensure access for deliveries is maintained at all times.
