I AM sorry that Cynthia Glasby (No, Julian, you are not alone, Soapbox, November 24) and Julian Cole don’t like The X Factor, but I would remind them that it has some of the highest viewing figures for any TV programmes for ages. Are we all wrong to enjoy it?
Simon Cowell is a good, kind man and if you listen to numerous comments from many contestants they will tell you that he has given them a chance in life which they never ever dreamed of.
Lovely Leona Lewis, JLS, Will Young, Susan Boyle, the list is endless.
My only criticism of the show is the incessant screaming from the young audience – especially when compere and judges are talking – but otherwise it is classic viewing.
Get with it, Julian and Cynthia. Remember you were young once.
