York Labour MP Hugh Bayley is to be congratulated on helping to achieve the wishes of numerous York and district people, by getting the plans to erect barriers at York Station cancelled.
As soon as I became aware of National Express’s idea to install the ugly and unnecessary barriers, I wrote several times to Mr Bayley asking him to intervene and end the plan. He always replied quickly, politely and in a businesslike manner, and kept me and other letter writers well informed as to what was happening.
I am no fan of New Labour, but credit where credit is due – well done and thank you, Mr Bayley.
David Quarrie, Lynden Way, Holgate, York.
