Children from Heslington and Badger Hill Pre-Schools have been digging in to plant a copse of trees.
The youngsters won the 30 native trees, made up of rowan, birch and cherry, as part of the Sainsbury’s Active Kid’s Scheme. They planted them at St Nicholas Fields Nature Reserve.
The planting marked the beginning of National Tree Week.
After the trees were in their new homes, the 17 children, who were all aged between three and five, had a story-telling session at York Environment Centre.
