A MAN has appeared in court charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a 20-year-old woman died in a crash on the A64 near York.
Tien Cheng, 28, of Redcliffe Parade, Bristol, was remanded in custody to appear at York Crown Court on December 7, after appearing at York Magistrates Court this morning.
A second woman, aged 21, was very seriously hurt in the incident, which happened between York and Tadcaster at 2.40am yesterday, and was taken to York Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.
Another man, aged 39, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving. The man, who is from York, has been released on unconditional police bail pending further inquiries.
