A TRIP to Tesco turned sour for a former York man when he hit another shopper and vandalised his van after the victim had allegedly assaulted him outside the store.
York Crown Court was told Stephen William Neasham punched the man in the face and head before the victim ran away towards the shop at Askham Bar, Tadcaster Road, York.
Stephanie Hancock, prosecuting, said Neasham and his father then used a wrench to vandalise the victim’s van, smashing the windows, damaging some of the bodywork and one of the wing mirrors.
Recorder Eric Elliott QC ordered Neasham, 26, of Rombalds Drive, Skipton, to do 150 hours unpaid work, and gave him a 12-month community order with supervision.
