Coneysthorpe ‘A’ are the new leaders of division one of the NEDL York and District Table Tennis League after winning 7-3 at Railway ‘A’, writes John Temple.

Martin Lowe was undefeated for Coneysthorpe ‘A’.

Coneysthorpe ‘B’ whitewashed bottom side Railway ‘B’, with Paul Young, Mike Fenby and Paul Cresswell in charge.

Holgate ‘A’ were grateful to John Farmery for ensuring a narrow 6-4 success over their ‘B’ team.

Shepherds ‘A’ came through a tight tussle with University ‘A’, winning 6-4, though Tim Ang won his singles for the students.

Division two leaders Railway ‘C’ beat Bootham ‘C’ 6-4 thanks to a fine contribution from Jane Cohen.

BT ‘A’ picked up a decisive 8-2 success at NEDL/Bootham, with George Morrison and Howard Broadbent the key men.

Holgate ‘C’ whitewashed Holgate ‘D’, with Ed Wardman, John Flintoft and John Eastwood all on song. Rob Plant won his singles – his first of the season – in a 9-1 victory for Bootham ‘C’ over Shepherds ‘B’. Dave Rawlings was also unbeaten.

In division three, Matty Graham was in top form as he steered Aviva ‘A’ to a 7-3 win over BT ‘B’, and, aided by Ernest Omanekodie, Graham led his side to an 8-2 dismissal of University ‘B’.

Shepherds ‘C’ scraped home 6-4 against Bootham ‘D’, with Mike Surtees playing well, and Paul Kozyra going down to his first defeats of the season.

In division four, Bootham ‘E’ won 6-4 at Sessions ‘C’, with Pete Corner still unbeaten.

Howard Lewis was undefeated as his Aviva ‘B’ side swept aside Hartrigg Oaks 8-2. They also beat a two-man Holgate ‘G’ 9-1.

Railway ‘G’ had a tight contest with Holgate ‘G’, before Jeff Brown guided them to a 6-4 success.

Holgate ‘F’ had a narrow win over Railway ‘E’, 6-4.
