THE campaign (The Press, November 25) around Thief Lane/ Newland Park Drive is well overdue and justified.

Two sets of people who should take an interest but appear not to are the landlords of the let properties and the university.

The state of the gardens of these lets should surely be down to landlords. Many of them don’t live in the city and as long as they receive the money they don’t seem to care.

There are many examples of this in the area. Many students don’t take an interest in the system of disposing of their rubbish.

Grey bins are overfilled with the lid open, which means when they are tipped into the wagon waste spills on to the road.

The binmen do an excellent job and can be seen clearing it off the roads, all because of thoughtless people.

One thing which never seems to be addressed is the overloading of the local drains.

A few years ago, due to the actions of students in an over occupied house, some of us further down the road had to pay the bill to have the drains unblocked.
