AS A true follower of The Rolling Stones from day one in my rebellious youth, and in my opinion still the best live band performers in the world, I have recently been listening to a beautiful rendering of the Jagger and Richards ballad, Wild Horses, which was released in 1971 on the Sticky Fingers album. To my utter surprise, and it was enough to bring a tear to the eye, I realised who was singing this poignant song: ‘twas the Britain’s Got Talent singer Susan Boyle.
When singers are turned out ten a penny so to speak, very occasionally someone truly amazing like Susan comes out of the woodwork. Even though it was a programme I did not watch, thank our lucky stars it was around. The amazing clarity and resonance of her voice is beautiful, she will go far.
