Star performer Cameron Rostron scored twice as the ever-improving York Acorn ARLC Under-10s continued their winning run with a fine 26-10 defeat of Stanningley.

Other tries came from Edward Nelson, after a little dummy, most improved player Jake Wright, with a powerful run, the impressive Reece Stevens and Leo Baker. Edward Nelson added a goal, while Ben Atkins, Harvey Hyde and Brandon Oliver also did well.

New Earswick U8s lost to Doncaster Toll Bar despite tries and good performances from Ellena Powell, Danny Copley, Robbie Gibb Kirk and Joshua Kelly. Harry Mansell received the ‘rising star’ award in a good team show.

The promising Heworth U8s turned in a much-improved display in their second outing of term.

Many of the team produced good performances and learned from their more experienced opponents.

Callum Rutland was man of the match at acting-half, topping the tackle count to boot. He was supported by Leon Mooring, Will Spencer and Alex Bell in the tackle.

The highlight was a fine run from Jak Ostergaard to go over in the corner for the team’s first-ever try, while the keen Myles Harrison was twice unlucky not to cross. Most improved player was Kane Cavanagh with some direct running.
