Malton Under-11s RUFC followed last week’s East Yorkshire Festival success with 21-7 and 19-7 wins over fellow Yorkshire Cup qualifiers Otley.

Malton played some champagne rugby in the first game. James Walker fielded a kick and scythed through, finding Charlie Corner in support to score, scrum-half Joe Nordli darted over from a five-metre scrum, and Will Fordy made ground along the blind side, with Corner on hand to take the scoring pass. Toby Wrightson converted all three tries.

The second game continued in the same vein, with the whole squad showing great commitment.

Owen Hayhurst was prominent in the tackle, and after ripping the ball and setting the forwards moving, space was created for Nordli to score.

Walker embarked on a another mazy run and passed to Corner to complete his hat-trick for the day, while Nordli scored again from a scrum close in, after Harry Butler had been held up over the line. Jake Newsome added two conversions.
