A big weekend is afoot for the Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers with the holding of the Thirsk 10-mile Road Race.
It starts from Newsham Road at 11am on Sunday, with more than 1,000 runners expected.
The club’s cyclo-cross enthusiasts took part in an interesting event when runners competed against cyclists over a six-mile course on Baildon Moor. A runner won the event, but the cyclists won the competition overall. Thirsk’s Noel Clough came fourth with Pete Wilkin first in the V50 section.
The next day they were back at a muddy course at Myrtle Park, Bingley, when again Clough was fourth overall and first V40, and Wilkin was first V50. The previous weekend they were at an extremely muddy Mallory Park, Leicester, for the National Points series, where the clay conditions were described as horrendous. Clough was second V40 and Wilkin sixth V50.
