YORK’S transport bosses are launching a public consultation on plans for £1.4 million junction improvements.

People who live and travel in the Rawcliffe area will be asked for their views on plans to improve the A19/A1237 roundabout.

The proposals are part of a plan to increase capacity on the outer ring road.

The council plans to upgrade the roundabout next autumn, by widening the entry and exit lanes, adding pedestrian and cycle crossing points, extending the existing lighting and removing the lay-by on the westbound A1237.

Residents in the Rawcliffe, Clifton Without and Skelton areas will receive a leaflet over the next few days, asking them for their views. Other motorists can view the proposals online at york.gov.uk/A19/A1237Roundabout or at Clifton Library, Rawcliffe Bar Park&Ride and the council offices at 9 St Leonard’s Place from December 4 to 18. Responses must be in by Friday, December 18.
