I FEEL compelled to write this letter with swimmers and fitness fanatics being given their first look at York’s newest pool and gym at Oaklands Leisure Centre, in Acomb.
It all looks good in the pictures (The Press, November 16).
Yet surely any remedial work required on the Barbican Centre swimming pool, before it was sold and demolished at a loss of millions of pounds, would have cost less than the £6.5 million spent on the new one at the other side of York?
