PRAISE to City of York Council for taking the initiative to encourage safe cycling in our car-crammed city.
More safe cycling means fewer cars on the road, enabling those car users that must yet from A to B to do so with less congestion.
Praise for the continuation of the Sustrans cycle path now being constructed over the Scarborough railway bridge/Crichton Avenue. This final piece enables cyclists to travel from Osbaldwick to Clifton Moor, cutting through the heart of York, giving access to many areas of the city.
Praise that the council has many more safe cycle lanes in progress and further planned adjustments are being made.
Many of us cyclists will be leaving the car at home for most short journeys and cycling to our destinations, helping to ease York’s traffic problems.
City of York Council, along with Sustrans is doing its utmost to make York the leading UK safe cycling city.
D Heald, Huntington Road, York.
