SESSIONS ‘A’ are setting a strong pace at the top of division one of the NEDL York & District Table Tennis League.

The leaders thumped Holgate ‘B’ 9-1 in their latest success, with Richard Moss and Mick Wilcockson unbeaten.

Coneysthorpe ‘A’ look the most realistic challengers and they kept in touch by beating Holgate ‘A’ 9-1, with Martin Lowe and Joel Wright leading the way.

Railway ‘A’ are also going well and they enjoyed an 8-2 dismissal of University ‘A’, with John Hughes winning his singles.

They followed up with a similar scoreline against Bootham ‘A’ and Paul Robertson was undefeated in both matches.

Mike Fenby and Paul Cresswell were in fine form as Coneysthorpe ‘B’ hammered Shepherds ‘A’ 9-1.

Railway ‘C’ are second in division two after they overcame Holgate ‘C’ 8-2, with Luke Blackburn in tenacious form.

The losers recovered with a win by the same score at NEDL/Bootham. Ed Wardman was unbeaten.

Holgate ‘D’ were held to a draw at Bootham ‘C’, who then beat NEDL/Bootham 8-2 with Dave Rawlings in top form.

Bootham ‘C’ had earlier gone down 7-3 to a Mike Robinson-inspired Sessions ‘B’.

The printers are going well and they won 8-2 at Shepherds ‘B’, with Nigel Thorn proving too strong.

Shepherds ‘C’ extended their lead at the top of division three as they whitewashed University ‘B’. Gary Neads, Chris Hutchinson and Paul Kozyra were unbeaten, though Kozyra had a close tussle with debutant Sarah Robinson.

Richard Collyer was in impressive form as his Bootham ‘D’ moved into second after a 7-3 win over Shepherds ‘D’, while BT ‘B’ edged out Shepherds ‘E’ 6-4 thanks to a fine display from Jim Stevenson.

Aviva ‘A’ were held to a draw by a two-man Holgate ‘E’, with Graham Hood unbeaten for the working men’s club.

Railway ‘D’ whitewashed University ‘B’, with Kenny Brown, John Stokes and Pete Griffiths successful.

In division four, Railway ‘E’ moved into second as they whitewashed Holgate ‘G’. Nathan Taylor, Chris Megone and Luo Li were all undefeated.

They also overcame Hartrigg Oaks 7-3, with Luo Li ousting Ray Holroyd 11-9 in the final game.

Howard Lewis guided Aviva ‘B’ to a 6-4 win over Sessions ‘C’.
