DAVID Quarrie, you’ve disappointed me. I’ve always enjoyed reading your letters, some I’ve even agreed with! But your defence of Prince Edward (That’s not what Edward meant, Soapbox, November 3) made my hackles rise, as my grandmother used to say.
We know he was misquoted, but that’s beside the point. What is he doing lecturing youngsters on the thrill of adventure, testing their endurance in difficult and dangerous activities in the first place?
This is the man who walked out of the Marines after a few weeks because he couldn’t cope with the endurance and difficult activities in training.
The same man who, on Sunday, will no doubt be at the Cenotaph in full uniform and a row of medals, impersonating an officer and insulting the brave men who have died while serving their country.
And if you think that’s grossly unfair and unreasonable Mr Quarrie – tough!
