WHAT’S big and green and full of Christmas goodies?
The answer is the Big Green Market, which is bringing more than 70 stalls featuring ethical and organic items to the centre of York this weekend.
The market, which is partly solar-powered, will also feature live music and composting advice. It started yesterday and will run until Sunday, between 9am and 5pm.
Organiser Jane Redfern said: “This year the mix of stallholders is even better than ever – expect to see a wide range of contemporary, eco-friendly and quirky products from all over the world ranging from designer luxury to pocket money purchases.”
Jayne Tinsley, from Wyrd Loom, who design and produce hand-made scarves and hand-knitted socks with weaving co-operatives in the Himalayas, said: “We hope to encourage people to move away from ‘throwaway fashion’ and buy something ethically produced and traded, of high quality, that will last.”
