A FLIGHT in an RAF simulator, an iPod signed by an Atomic Kitten and a signed England football shirt are just some of the stunning lots up for grabs at a forthcoming charity dinner, dance and auction.

The dinner, dance and auction has been organised to raise cash for the charity For The Love Of Bryony – Wellchild.

The charity was set up by Rob and Kath Aveyard, of Woodside Avenue, Burnholme, York, in memory of their 11-year-old daughter, Bryony, who died suddenly of a brain haemorrhage last October.

Through events like barbecues, race nights and competing in the Great North Run, the Aveyards and their friends have raised £40,000 towards the £55,000 cost of a Wellchild nurse for the Yorkshire region.

They want to reach the target by next May.

The dinner and dance will be one of their biggest fundraisers yet and it is hoped it will make a significant contribution to the funds already raised.

The event is being held at the Royal York Hotel on Saturday, November 28. Organisers hope the choice of lots will lead to keenly contested auctions.

They include a VIP day out at RAF Linton-on-Ouse where the successful bidder will have a flight on the station’s training simulator, an iPod signed by former Atomic Kitten singer Liz McClarnon, London theatre tickets, a Scottish cottage for four for a week and a mountain bike.

Rob said the event could even see the Aveyards reach their target with another five months to go.

Rob said: “We will be looking at reaching our target by Christmas if this next event is a success and who knows what we can achieve by May – the end of our year fundraising.”

If they do not reach their target they will have a good chance when next year’s big event is completed – the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. It will take place on May 1.
