THIS letter is addressed to the councillors of York. Why is it that you spend thousands of pounds every year to make the city and surrounding areas attractive with tubs of flowers, etc, then you allow for a big yellow container to be placed outside a small parade of shops in a residential area. Is this to replace the winter flower tubs?

I know the container is for the air ambulance charity, and I am one of the first to support such charities, but have some common sense.

It should have been placed in a more suitable area, eg Iceland and Aldi car park on Fulford Road, or any council car park, where hundreds more people would see it and possibly contribute their old clothes, shoes, etc. It would be nice to think it will be removed to a much more available position in the very near future. It is on council land now.
