I HAVE on occasion stated that “pigs can’t fly”. However, having read The Press article on October 31 in relation to customs officials confiscating £30,000-worth of cigarettes and alcohol, I wish to retract that statement.
When disposal of contraband goods is the issue, on the lighter side of what is a serious issue, consider the implications of the method adopted.
For instance, with alcohol being poured down the drains, there must be thousands of rats having a whale of a time, binge-drinking to their hearts' content.
As for tobacco crushed into pellets to power electricity stations and/or destroyed, I have no problem with that.
However, the other alternative mentioned, tobacco pellets being used in pig feed, well, this could have a far-reaching effect. For those in our society who enjoy pork with their meals and are non-smokers, are we to witness warning labels on those products, or a new brand of pork sausage – Nico-Alco?
As for me, make my pork below the limit and drug-free.
