More than 150 students from schools throughout the region attended a Languages For Life conference held at Millthorpe School in York. The event promoted the vocational relevance of learning languages in today’s competitive global market. It was hosted by Millthorpe School as part of a Language College Partnership with All Saints’ RC School. Students took part in presentations by speakers from universities all over the country which highlighted the opportunities available to them as they progressed with their language studies. They attended taster sessions sampling a variety of different languages such as Chinese, Japanese and Greek. The also learnt about careers in languages, taking part in international graduate placements and the use of languages within the hospitality industry.
