BRIDES-TO-BE were able to sample everything they could possibly need at the Yorkshire Living Brides Wedding Fair – and they brought with them an army of bridesmaids, grooms and mothers.

Organisers hailed yesterday’s free event at York Racecourse an overwhelming success, with dozens of local businesses getting a much-needed boost from plenty of bookings.

There were more than 65 stands for visitors to browse, offering everything from cakes and invitations to cars and photographers.

Two professionally-choreographed catwalk shows were among the main attractions, with a team of mini models stealing the show in their cute bridesmaid outfits.

Alison Wychwood, business development manager at The Press, said: “It has been amazing. We’ve had a record-breaking number of visitors. More than 250 brides have registered and if you think each one brings along at least three visitors, then that’s easily more than 1,000 people through the doors.

“We have had the best selection of stands we have ever had and some fabulous gowns on the catwalk to suit every budget.”
