Manchester three-piece The Longcut are back with a brand new album, Open Hearts, which they're showcasing on a large autumn tour, which takes in York this month.
The Longcut formed in 2002 and their experimental, original instrumental sound won them plenty of acclaim, resulting in their signing to Deltasonic in 2004.
It's is a more varied and dynamic listen than its predecessor, A Call and Response, released in 2006; far more a reflection of the trio's live show, which is where they made their name in the early days as an intense live experience.
Music bible Drowned In Sound said they've created "one of 2009's most diverse records", awarding it 8/10.
Check out their new material for yourselves when they hit the Fibbers stage on October 21.
